Heidi Van Etten has been with UWAR since 2016. She received her B.A. in Anthropology from Weber State University with a minor in Physical Geography and will graduate with her M.A. in spring of 2019 from the University of Wyoming. Her interests include paleoecology and culture change with an emphasis on fauna and lithics. She loves the high elevation desert. Her favorite artifacts are shell beads from ocean estuaries found in the Intermountain and Rocky Mountain regions. She has worked in various field and lab capacities in Utah, Idaho, Montana, Colorado, and Wyoming. As the Assistant Curator, her goals include making older collections more accessible to researchers and the public, as well as public outreach and education. Heidi has worked in many aspects of curation including special and military collections, education, social media outreach, and assisting with the creation of the new UWAR database.
